Bad card:
- Front: Mitosis
- Back: The process of cell division resulting in two daughter cells with identical genetic material, consisting of prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis.
Good card:
- Front: What are the four main stages of mitosis, in order?
- Back: Prophase → Metaphase → Anaphase → Telophase
See the difference? The bad card is a reading exercise. The good card forces you to retrieve specific information in a specific format.
One fact per card is the rule. When you cram multiple facts onto one card, you can half-know it and still flip it to the answer — which masks gaps. Break complex topics into atomic questions. If a card takes more than five seconds to answer, it probably needs to be split.
